WeLearn Academy Newsletter – October 4 – October 8, 2021
Dear WeLearn Community:
As many of you know, I’ve been in the US for the last month doing a “van life” (motorhome) tour
with my two youngest daughters (both WeLearn learners) and son (former WeLearn learner now living in
the US). As the founder of WeLearn, it has always been my dream to create an education system that
not only focuses on key future skills but also is flexible enough to allow families to pursue alternative types
of learning from time to time, such as “worldschooling” (learning through travel) or passion projects and
activities (like our Learner, Goyu Nakagawa, who is a top junior motorcycle racer).
This was my first opportunity to test out the WeLearn model in a “worldschool” context, and it held up well,
although the time zone differences made participation in PBL and STEM Innovation difficult (we need
WeLearn USA!). The girls kept up with their online learning, did a lot of offline learning in the great
outdoors, and spent valuable family time with their older brother.
To help other families pursue this type of learning with access to the full WeLearn model, we will start
working on making our PBL curriculum and recordings of PBL classes available after the sessions.
The WeLearn Center (Bangkok and Hua Hin) will be closed on Wednesday, October 13th, 2021, for the
Great H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Memorial Day.
Resuming Onsite Learning (Bangkok and Hua Hin)
We are happy to report that WeLearn received certification today under the School Sandbox Safety
Program to re-open for onsite learning. We will be providing further information regarding the government
requirements and regulations
Primary PBL Showcase
On Friday, October 15th, 2021, we will hold our virtual Primary PBL Showcase on the topic of “Protecting
Endangered Species.” More information has been sent out in a separate email. Please feel free to contact
us for further queries.
Join us via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85096366461
Please inform our front office staff if any learner wants to join their peers at the center during their learning
time. For further information, please check the regulations at the bottom of the newsletter.
Wishing you a wonderful and safe weekend.
As always, Upward and Onwards!!
